This project completed with WORKSHOP Architecture and the associated Architectural Association School’s and Royal College of Arts’ visiting schools. The Lacey Green workshop focused on building a music pavilion for the St John’s Elementary School.
Based at Grymsdyke farm, we were a group of twelve designers using a variety of technologies to explore different ways of building with wood and clay. While primarily working on the structure of the pavilion, we had the opportunity to explore other techniques to create tiles for the exterior cladding. I was in charge of cutting the wood pieces before sending them to the CNC machine and hand sawing the finger joint connections between columns and rafters.
Note: I did not participate in the workshops that involved the assembly of the final structure, and the cladding/finishing of the assemblies.
