Located in Vancouver BC, this firehall is a pilot project the City of Vancouver is using to push for market transformation and show leadership in green building. Designed by hcma, this project targeted Passive House certification, LEED v4 Gold certification, the Canadian Green Building Council Zero Carbon Building certification, and net zero energy (as defined by the project team). In order to achieve all these targets, each construction detail required thorough review to ensure the continuity of the insulation layer and limit thermal bridges. This page shows the assessment of different detail iterations for two major thermal bridges: a door install and a junction between the apparatus bay housing the fire trucks and the staff and living areas.
